What is the
Meniscus?
There are two menisci in each knee – one on the inner side of the knee (medial menisci) and the outer side of the knee (lateral menisci). The meniscus is a C-shaped piece of thick and fibrous cartilage that is responsible for providing shock absorption and cushion to your knee.
The meniscus also keeps the knee steady by distributing your weight equally across the knee bones. Its wedge-shaped structure also further keeps the knee joint stable.

He was formerly a Consultant with the Foot and Ankle Service in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and board member of the Medical Board of SGH. Dr Ng also received advanced orthopaedic training under the Ministry of Health HMDP award in Switzerland.
